Google will release even more Android 12 beta updates

  • Google plans to continue the Android 12 beta program, with the next update scheduled for December.
  • Future beta updates of Android 12 will include feature drops, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
  • If you’d rather stay on the stable Android 12 update path, you’ll need to unsubscribe before December 1st.

Just because the stable version of Android 12 has now unrolled to eligible Pixel smartphones, this does not mean that Google has finished releasing beta updates. In a send On the r / android_beta subreddit, the Android Beta Program team announced that current Android Beta subscribers will be able to continue the Beta program to receive “ongoing pre-release Android 12 updates”. These updates include feature drops, bug fixes, and performance and stability improvements.

The Android Beta team has specified that if you take no action to deregister your device from the Android Beta program, you will automatically receive the next beta update starting December 2021. However, if you wish to revert to the stable Android 12 track, you can unenroll your device between now (after installing today’s update) and Wednesday, December 1st. If you don’t do this during the specified period, unenrolling the device at any other time will result in a factory data reset.

Take a look at the announcement below for more details:

You now have the opportunity to continue in the beta program on your Pixel devices and receive ongoing pre-release Android 12 updates, including feature drops, bug fixes, and stability and performance improvements before the public release schedule starting at December.

If you take no action and keep your Pixel device enrolled in the beta program, you will automatically receive the next Android 12 beta updates starting in December. If you deactivate the program after installing the December beta update, all user data on the device will be wiped according to the program’s normal guidelines.

We’re not sure what Google will include in these upcoming Android 12 beta updates, how often they’ll be released, or how long the Android 12 beta program will continue.
